On November 25, 1935 under the decree of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR was established the Order of the Badge of Honor.

The decree of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR of November 25, 1935 “On the establishing of the Order the Badge of Honor” explained that this order is awarded to individuals as well as to groups for the high performance in industry, agriculture, transport, commerce; for the special achievements in scientific and research, cultural and sport activity; for introducing technical improvements and inventions in all the fields of socialistic development that have a great economical significance; for the services on increasing of the Red Army fighting efficiency and the Union of the SSR defense.

The Order of the Badge of Honor is one of the first orders of the USSR and became a frequent decoration for the record-setters in work productivity of the first five-year plans. At the moment of its establishing the Order of the Badge of Honor was at the last place in the Soviet orders’ “table of ranks”.

The Order of the Badge of Honor was awarded to workers, collective farmers, teachers, doctors, scientists, artists, actors, sportsmen, musicians, writers and even students and pupils.

By the beginning of 1941 the holders of the award were over 14.5 million people including the aircraft designer A.N. Tupolev, twice the Hero of the Soviet Union G.P. Kravchenko, the excellent grain grower M.A. Posmitny, etc.
